Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Are Dunzo!

Uh oh! We’ve got another celebrity break-up to discuss … and this one is even bigger than Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter‘s split. The very married Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have split up! Despite the fact that both Ryan and Scarlett have recently professed their love for one another in the press, TMZ [...]

I have safely and happily made my way back home from my frigid and snowy home state of Michigan to the warmer climes of California … and it feels good to be home. Even tho I had a lot of fun in Detroit, I really really REALLY hate the cold and the snow so … yeah, I was itching a bit to get back home. I did manage to bring a bit of my home with me to LA … my mom scrounged up my class rings, yearbooks and other school memorabilia so that I could bring them home with me:

I think I’m finally ready to ask David to go steady with me so … he’ll get to wear my high school class ring if he says yes. I know that many folks have asked for high school photos of me but I just can’t find the strength to embarrass myself like that just yet … maybe some day but, nope, not yet.

So yeah … I’m home again … and for a while ;) Tonight, David and I have tickets to see the Broadway musical Next to Normal which is in production here in LA for a few weeks:

We both saw it on Broadway in NYC last year but not together. He loved the show so much he wanted to see it again so … that’s what we’re doing! Happy Tuesday, y’all … it’s great to be home!!

alisa-valdes-rodriguez-author-dirty-girls-social-club.jpg

Oh dear.

Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, author of the New York Times Bestseller The Dirty Girls Social Club, is calling the TV adaptation of her book "racist, adding that her beloved characters have become "bastardizations" of her original vision.

After getting a hold of the script from an NBC employee, Alisa has said that the series "holds zero appeal for me," when she saw that all the black characters in her book were either removed or changed races and all the Latina females were sexually promiscuous.

Valdes-Rodriguez was so upset with what she saw, she took to her blog to write an angry response:

"[Ann Lopez] (George Lopez's ex-wife) assured me that as a Latina, [screenwriter] Luisa [Leschin] 'gets it.' I believed her. Stupid me. I trusted Ann that she would make good on her promise to run all major changes past me. I trusted her that she would give me final approval of each and every script. I trusted her implicitly and like a sister – in fact, everyone tells me Ann and I are identical in appearance! – until… Ann failed to do any of the things she’d promised, and began to treat me like a pesky intern she wished would go away.

I got [the script] from a lowly 'no one' in the company who is, like so many 'no ones' across this world, loyal to the book’s message of dignity for all walks of life and all people. … I was horrified by what Luisa had done to my book – and even more horrified to discover NBC had requested I be brought in as the writer, only to be told no by Ann.

Luisa managed to weed out every non-U.S. African diaspora character. Put simply, she killed off all the black folks in my story. In her hands my black Colombian character Elizabeth becomes 'a sizzling Colombian' (because we might as well employ cliched language in addition to de-Africanizing her); my mulatta Puerto Rican/Dominican character Usnavys becomes African-American, non Latino, and ends up adhering to every stereotype of the fat-n-sassy oversexed negress 'diva' that Hollywood has ever flung at the viewing public; and my Nigerian-British millionaire heartthrob, Andre Cartier, becomes Andre Carter, an East Indian by way of London. … There is no discernible reason for these changes, other than anti-black racism."

We'd be angry too! The book had so much appeal and the TV script just sounds like another "Hollywood" stereotype.

Thoughts?

Legends of the 1960s - Minnie Riperton

Originally starting in 1966 and parting in 1991, the rock band Slade was one of the best bands in the world, and they were the UK's number-one rock band during the 1970s. During a time in rock and roll where the band was competing with gargantuan bands like the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, Slade still managed to leave their mark on the genre. Slade was started by Don Powell and Dave Hill after they left their group in the early sixties, the 'N Betweens.

It's Christmas Once Again in San Francisco

Born Stefani Germanotta March 28th 1986, she's nowadays called Lady Gaga all over the entire planet. Her claim to fame came not to long ago, when she dropped her 1st music album Fame in August 08. On the music album she composed the chart topping single "Just Dance," and this tune launched her directly into a legendary status. Her exceptional stage name originate from pop producer Rob Fusari. Each day, when Stefani came into the studio, he'd played the Queen Tune "Radio Ga Ga." The artist name Lady Gaga was created purely by fate, when Rob Fusari delivered her a SMS that was intended to be named "Radio Ga Ga," nonetheless the telephone immediately corrected it in to Lady. So the nick name Lady Gaga was given birth to. Germanotta didn't want to remain being called by her name from that point on, and is going solely by the name Lady Gaga currently, and introduces herself as Gaga.

10 Trivia Night Tips - Pub Trivia An Entertaining Night Out

For many years the British seem to have become obsessed with the wildlife, flora and fauna of anywhere other than that of their own country. Trips to the Arctic wilderness have increased, at the same time us well travelled Brits visit Africa and India to witness what their natural world have, and go further afield to witness the vast Great Barrier Reef or wonders of Yellowstone National Park. But just recently there has been a renaissance in our interest in our own wildlife in the UK.

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Love ‘Cinderella’

New dads Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were among the celebs in attendance at an opening event at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, CA last night for the opening of a pantomime version of Cinderella. For those of you who don’t know, a pantomime is a British show that is traditionally performed [...]

Despite the fact that I started to come down with symptoms of the flu yesterday, I did my best to battle them back all day long with meds, liquids and sleep so that I could make my way out to Club Nokia to see Ok Go in concert. David returned home from back East last night so I picked up up from the airport and we made our way straight to the venue to see the show:

If you can believe it, part of the concert was presented in 3D. I mean, yes the whole show was in actual 3D but Ok Go showed some video footage in 3D that could be seen properly with 3D glasses … so fun! After the jump, check out a few photos that I snapped at the show lat night …

I always forget how much I love Ok Go live in concert until I see them in concert and go DAMN! I LOVE OK GO IN CONCERT! I first saw the band live back in 2004 and have seen them a few times since over the years. They were really fantastic last night, lots of fun surprises, great video vignettes, a whole lotta confetti/lasers/lights and of course the best music ever. Because I wasn’t feeling too hot, I almost skipped the show … thankfully, I did not. I had a blast … David and I both did :D

Today, tho, I’m still not feeling so hot. I’m gonna try and rest up for much of the day so that David and I can double date with Emma and Josh later tonight to see Tangled. I hope your Sunday is a fun, symptom free day!

Audio Compressor Tips

Ol' Blue Eyes, the Chairman of the Board, and the man everyone could recognize as simply "The Voice": That was Francis Albert Sinatra. Born on December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey, Sinatra was the son of a fire-fighting boxer and a politically-driven mother. To anyone examining Frank's legacy, it seems his career spanned the entire 1900s - a accolade that isn't far off the truth at all.

Guitar Set-Up Basics - Choosing Guitar Strings

Sometimes when you tune your guitar and your open strings are in tune, you may play a fretted note and it will sound out of tune. For example you may play a solo and find some of the notes are either flat or sharp the further you move up the fret board. This is probably because your intonation is not correctly set-up, I've written this guide to help you set-up your intonation yourself.

britney spears new album is different says manager larry rudolf new sound releasing early next year

We're just dying to hear what is coming next!

Britney Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, has high praise for his client's upcoming album, which he announces to Entertainment Weekly could be in on our iPods as soon as "early next year." He admits that most of this years has been spent "getting back to basics" for Brit-Brit (aka being a mommy and a proper-functioning person of society.) But now, she's completely in a "new album cycle" and he says we can expect a very "progessive" sound from our diva in her new music. He promises,“It’ll be a departure from what you’ve heard."

Hope not too much! We're all for maturing with your music, but we want some killer dance tracks on this album! Don't leave us hanging, BB!
